Another enjoyable Hub lunch
The Blockley Lunch Club is going really well. Since December over 60 people have enjoyed a two-course home cooked meal in the café for a special Hub price of £5. The Club is so popular with Blockley's over 60s that the lunches are now held twice a month on the second and third Wednesday.
Some comments from Lunch Club members this week:
“I hardly ever get out now that I can't drive. The Lunch Club is a chance to catch up with all my friends and the food is delicious." Amy, who has been immobilised since breaking her ankle two years ago. She is driven to the Cafe by friends who also bring the only chair she can sit in comfortably.
Betty, who lives in Paxford, says she often feels very isolated because she doesn't drive. “I don't mix easily with new people but everyone at the lunches is so friendly. I'll definitely come again, especially as the transport is laid on."
June, normally a very active person, has had a mobility problem since the autumn and finds the Lunch Club a welcome relief from her sofa. “It really does me good to catch up with old friends and enjoy a good laugh," she says.
The Blockley Lunch Club is run in partnership with volunteers from the Cotswold Friends charity who also provide transport when it is needed.
